Poems, by J. D. with Elegies on the Authors Death
The witness is an Early English Books microfilm of the 1635 Poems (the second collected edition), Archive.org bim_early-english-books-1475-1640_poems-_donne-john-poems-by-j_1635. Assign ran after 1633, so it considered only poems still loose. Some of the 21 were in 1633; that scan did not show them, and first located printing on a readable witness is this edition. Seven more scored 0.25-0.60 and were left unplaced: the OCR here does not show those poems clearly enough to hand-place. The threshold was not lowered. On 2026-08-21 a further 7 poems were placed here by hand, on the same evidence as the 21 added to the 1633 record that day: Grierson's 1912 contents gives 1635 as the earliest edition containing each, and this scan shows each at the page it names. They are Farewell to love (63-4), Hymne to God my God in my sicknesse (387-8), the Ode of our Sense of Sinne (368), Omnibus (386-7), Upon the translation of the Psalmes (366-8), Holy Sonnet V (334) and the Epitaph on himselfe (271). This microfilm's OCR is much worse than the 1633 scan's — three of the seven scored 1 or 4 of 10 sampled lines — so each was read off the page image's text layer leaf by leaf rather than trusted to a score. The Epitaph on himselfe and Omnibus are the two states of one epitaph that 1635 prints in two places, which is why both are here.
Numbers rank the poems whose position in the book is known; they are not page numbers.
