The Weary Blues

There is no unrestricted Archive.org scan of this book. The witness is Gutenberg 74745, a transcription of the 1926 Knopf first printing (NEW YORK / ALFRED A. KNOPF / 1926, Copyright 1926). HathiTrust mdp.39015003918763 is a full-view scan of the same printing and was not fetched. The Gutenberg transcriber marked corrections in the file; Dream Variation is printed that way in the corpus and appears in this witness as DREAM VARIATIONS. The corpus text is unchanged. Proem in this book is the corpus's The Negro. Epilogue is I, Too. Young Bride is the corpus's Young Bridge: the gathering title is wrong, the body matches the page. Negro Dancers is the corpus's Negro Dancer. Those four, and Dream Variation, keep sequence null because the printed heading is not the corpus title. Five poems titled Poem share a heading; the witness cannot tell them apart for order, and they keep sequence null. Body evidence placed each of the five in the book. The order was derived from the body, beginning after the contents and transcriber notes, ending before the Gutenberg licence. Sequence numbers are dense ranks over the 58 titles the two derivations agreed on.

Numbers rank the poems whose position in the book is known; they are not page numbers.
