Witness is the 1885 Longmans, Green first edition (Oxford University copy, digitised by Google). 64 poems were assigned from it on 2026-08-21. The 65th, The Wind, was placed by hand the same day, because the witness shows it and the scorer could not: its refrain — “O wind, a-blowing all day long, / O wind, that sings so loud a song!” — closes all three stanzas, and core.body_score advances its cursor to the highest-ratio match rather than the earliest acceptable one, so the cursor jumps past the poem and it scored 0.33 against a threshold of 0.60. What the witness does show is the whole poem: the contents leaf lists “XXV. THE WIND 29”, and all eighteen lines follow the heading in order and match this text word for word. The heading itself is why tools/books.py order cannot place it either: the OCR reads it TITE WIND, so the title is not found and the poem keeps sequence null alongside the other four titles the order could not locate. The threshold was not lowered. Only membership is by hand.
