Musings on the Banks of Canadian Thames

The witness is the CIHM microfilm of the 1884 first edition, Archive.org cihm_09542, filmed from the copy held by the National Library of Canada. The catalogue record gives the full title as "Musings on the banks of Canadian Thames : including poems on local, Canadian and British subjects, and lines on the great poets of England, Ireland, Scotland and America, with a glance at the wars in Victoria's reign"; the title here is the title proper. The imprint is off the title page of the scan: Ingersoll, printed by H. Rowland at the "Tribune" Printing House, 1884. The year is the title page's own and the catalogue record's. This volume was assigned first, so it considered all 298 poems then loose. Five scored between 0.25 and 0.60 and were not assigned: Card of Thanks to the Press (0.58, matched on opening line rather than heading), English Names on Canadian Thames (0.50), Galt and Dunlop (0.50), Lines on Salford (0.30), American Poets (0.25). All five were subsequently assigned to the 1889 volume, which reprints much of this book. The threshold was not lowered.

Numbers rank the poems whose position in the book is known; they are not page numbers.
